Working on a PRN, or on an "as needed" basis, the Rehab Assistant - PRN provides support to the team of therapists with routine follow up of patient care under direct supervision of a licensed professional. Prepares treatment area/equipment for use, and assists by preparing the patient for treatment by the physical, occupational or speech therapist.
Assists patients in preparation for treatment such as transferring to mat; positioning of patients and equipment, tables or devices; helping to and from bed, wheelchair, stretcher, etc; lifiting and turning patients of various size and stature using proper body mechanics. Supports the Occupational Therapists by assisting with daily living training and practice with patients, such as tray set-up, grooming and monitoring patients' activities and responding to requests for assistance. Assists Speech and Language Pathologist with monitoring of protocols to help patients with feeding group and/or meals.
Requirements: AA degree or Student in health related field. One to three (1-3) years of experience, preferably in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. Required skills to include Microsoft Office Suite; Medical terminology; Critical thinking skills. Highly preferred is Cerner; IDX; familiarity with medical equipment as used in a Rehab setting and proper body mechanics. Physical demands of the position may including exerting force to move equipment, and lifting patients. PRN schedule would be on "as needed" basis Monday-Friday, days.
