Department: Emergency Department - Northwest - 6520
ER-7 at Northwest Hospital currently sees over 60,000 patients per year and has 49 beds. The department treats major and minor illnesses, typically related to cardiac and behavioral health. Additionally, ER-7 staff may provide care for orthopedic injuries or minor trauma. ER-7 has a rapid care area as well, designated for minor illnesses. Staff members of ER-7 are outgoing and positive, and must utilize strong organizational and leadership skills to assess patient status, and be able to effectively implement clinical nursing interventions to modify symptoms. Position Summary: Under the supervision of the Unit Manager and Unit charge nurse, the Licensed Practical Nurse utilizes a general understanding of the principles of nursing and basic physical assessment skills in the development of and implementation of individualized nursing care plans to ensure that the needs of the residents are met; assists in the orientation of the supervision of nursing personnel; and attends to the daily operations of the unit on a per shift, unit level, and assumes responsibilities of a leadership role as needed. Requirements: Formal working knowledge; equivalent to an Associate's degree (2 years college); requires knowledge of a specialized field; Less than 1 year experience; License for Practical Nursing required; Cerner; Healthstream; Nursing Process skills based on MD Nurse Practice Act; Critical thinking skills; Medical equipment; Accucheck; EKG Machine, Specialty Bed Operation; Basic computer skills; Synquest; IV Pump; Phillips Monitoring System; Demonstrates the ability to follow verbal instructions; Demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
