Job Description:

Northwest Hospital's main operating room (Main OR) provides innovative surgical services on both inpatient and outpatients. The main surgical suite consists of a new exquisite pre- and post-operative area, five operating rooms, one Cysto suite and a new endoscopy suite. The main operating room cares for approximately 480 surgical patients a month. Patients of surgical services may require care following general or orthopedic, neurologic, urologic, gynecologic, thoracic, vascular, podiatric, cosmetic procedures. Surgical service employees provide excellent care to their patients and follow Association of PeriOperative Registered Nurses (AORN) and American Society of PeriAnesthesia Nursing Practice (ASPAN) standards of care. Surgical staff must utilize strong organizational and leadership skills to assess patient status, implement clinical nursing interventions to modify symptoms.

Position Summary: As a member of the patient care team, the RNIII demonstrates proficiency in clinically sound evidence based practice. Recognized as a resource, mentor, preceptor and role model. The RN III must meet all the requirements of the RN I and RN II.

Requirements: Basic professional knowledge; equivalent to a Bachelor's degree; working knowledge of theory and practice within a specialized field. Baccalaureate Nursing Degree in Nursing from accredited School of Nursing. 1-3 years of experience. Maryland Registered Nurse License; American Heart Association CPR Certification; National certification in related field. This position is located in the Pre-Admission Testing Office; it is Monday-Friday, 8 am- 4:30 pm.
