Responsible for the coordination of resources to ensure quality service to all customers, reflecting the mission, vision, and philosophy of Northwest Hospital Center and the Department of Nursing. Provides overall direction for and coordination of Nursing Department and Hospital operations during the off shift and weekends. Decisions are made in concert with the hospital vision, mission, goals, and departmental specific goals and objectives. Assures that nursing personnel function within standards and expectations. Provides structure and processes to assure that the nursing units are staffed in accordance with competencies, qualifications, and patient needs. Assesses, recommends, implements, evaluates, and revises standards, policies, procedures, and practice to assure that all customers are provided the care/service dictated by their individual needs. Manages staffing practices to assure that resources are provided in accordance with patient needs,established standards of care, and within fiscal guidelines. Contributes to the development/revision of policy, procedure, and standards that guide and support the provision of services. Models behaviors that support the treatment of each patient as unique individuals. Assures that employees relate to each patient in a manner that enhances patient's well being and meets each patient's emotional as well as physical needs. Requirements: Basic professional knowledge; equivalent to a Bachelor's degree; working knowledge of theory and practice within a specialized field. BSN required. Management experience required. 5-7 years of experience required. Visualization, measuring, calculating,auscultation, palpation, and documentation techniques. CPR Certification and Maryland Registered Nurse License required. Demonstrates the ability to follow verbal instructions, as well as the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
