The Nurse Manager for the Intensive Care Unit, ICU Step-Down, Vascular Access, and Hemodialysis teams assumes 24-hour accountability for the coordination of resources to ensure quality service to all customers, reflecting the mission, vision, and philosophy of Northwest Hospital Center and the Department of Nursing. Works under the direct supervision and direction of the Director Patient Care Services. Provides overall direction for and coordination of unit operations in concert with Hospital vision, mission, goals, and department specific goals and objectives. Establishes standards and expectations for all personnel within the area of responsibility. Designs and implements plans for unit improvements which demonstrate flexibility, creativity, and cost effectiveness. Assists with the preparation and implementation of operational and capital budget. Knowledgeable about current regulatory standards governing patient care and ensures that nursing staff carries out patient care according to those standards. This Nurse Manager oversees Intensive Care Unit, ICU Step-Down, Vascular Access, and Hemodialysis units.
The Intensive Care unit at Northwest Hospital has 16 beds. Staff members in the ICU provide high-quality, compassionate, standardized, evidence-based critical care to patients and their families. Staff members in the ICU are often work to clear obstacles for patients related to their care.
The ICU Step-Down unit at Northwest Hospital has 11 beds. Staff members in ICU Step-Down provide high-quality, compassionate, standardized, evidence-based critical care to patients and their families. Staff members in the ICU Step-Down are often work to clear obstacles for patients related to their care.
Vascular Access is responsible for initiating, maintaining, and monitoring intravenous therapy and serving as a resource to the hospital staff to optimize Vascular Access Therapy for adult patients.
This position will also have oversight of the Hemodialysis team.
Requirements: Basic professional knowledge equivalent to a Bachelor's degree, BSN required, working knowledge of theory and practice within a specialized field, National Nursing certification preferred such as CCRN strongly preferred, 5-7 years RN experience, critical care experience, at least 2 years of leadership experience, basic computer skills, medical equipment skills, Maryland Registered Nurse License, CPR Certification, ACLS
