The Assistant Nurse Manager for Ambulatory Surgery is a supportive role to the Nurse Manager. This role has 24/7 accountability with a focus on improving and sustaining positive patient outcomes, the patient experience, facilitating patient throughput, staff engagement, operations and change management. In addition, it will be a requirement for this individual to maintain basic nursing skills as required by his/her specialty. The individual must demonstrate basic competence in clinical, ethical and legal aspects surrounding the provision of patient care. In the absence of the Nurse Manager, the Assistant Nurse Manager will assume full oversight and responsibilities for the Ambulatory Surgery Center. This position will also have some oversight in the General OR and will have some administrative on-call time 1-2 times per month.
The Ambulatory Surgery Center at Sinai consists of 7 pre-op rooms, 4 OR suites, and 6 PACU bays, providing primarily outpatient surgical services in over 11 specialties. We prepare the patient and family/significant other for the surgical experience prior to surgery and provide for the safe and effective recovery of the patient during all phases of post-anesthesia recovery. We provide care for patients receiving general, MAC, local, and regional anesthesia. Our practice is guided by policies and procedures which are written in collaboration with current ASPAN and AORN recommendations and guidelines.
Requirements: Basic professional knowledge equivalent to a Bachelor's degree, ADN required, BSN preferred, working knowledge of theory and practice within a specialized field, national certification in area of specialty required such as CNOR, must have at least 1 year of leadership experience in area of clinical specialty and leadership experience must include formal supervision (completion of Sinai's Patient Care Services Bridge Program is equivalent to 1 year of leadership experience), 3-5 years RN experience, MD Registered Nurse license, American Heart Association CPR certification, ACLS and PALS are also required, experience with conducting behavioral interviews preferred, must be a member of a professional organization, Nursing Process skills based on MD Nurse Practice Act, critical thinking skills, medical equipment, Microsoft Office Suite, basic computer skills, Cerner, Healthstream, standard office equipment, medical terminology.
