Northwest Hospital's main operating room (Main OR) provides innovative surgical services on both inpatient and outpatients. The main surgical suite consists of a new exquisite pre- and post-operative area, five operating rooms, one Cysto suite and a new endoscopy suite. The main operating room cares for approximately 480 surgical patients a month. Patients of surgical services may require care following general or orthopedic, neurologic, urologic, gynecologic, thoracic, vascular, podiatric, cosmetic procedures. Surgical service employees provide excellent care to their patients and follow Association of PeriOperative Registered Nurses (AORN) and American Society of PeriAnesthesia Nursing Practice (ASPAN) standards of care. Surgical staff must utilize strong organizational and leadership skills to assess patient status, implement clinical nursing interventions to modify symptoms.
Position Summary: Coordinate patient care on assigned unit through collaboration with members of the multidisciplinary health care team and act as a resource in developing, implementing and evaluating outcomes of nursing protocols, clinical pathways and pertinent quality/service indicators.
Requires formal working knowledge; equivalent to an Associate's degree; knowledge of a specialized field; Critical thinking skills, basic computer skills, Microsoft office suite, Cerner, medical terminology.#x00A0; Maryland RN license and American Heart Association CPR required, ACLS preferred.
