The Orthopedics and Trauma unit is a 19-bed telemetry unit that provides comprehensive care to adult patients who have sustained traumatic injuries, or who have undergone a joint replacement or other orthopedic procedure. Admissions to this unit are received from the PACU, ICU, IMC, the emergency room and direct admissions. Staff members of this unit are specially trained to care for the specific needs of the Ortho/Trauma population, which includes assisting with pain management, traction setup and helping patients adjust to decreased mobility among other things. Staff members of this unit strongly value communication, collaboration and team work.
Provides safe, age-appropriate patient care, and function as advisor, resource, for patients and their families as a member of the patient care team.
Requirements: Basic professional knowledge; Working knowledge of theory and practice within a specialized field; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required. Less than one year experience. Microsoft Office Suite; Basic computer skills; Cerner; Synquest; Standard Office Equipment; Medical terminology; Nursing Process skills based on MD Nurse Practice Act; Critical thinking skills; Medical equipment. Maryland Registered Nurse License; American Heart Association CPR Certification.
