Under limited supervision, the IMC Clinical Coach directly oversees unit orientation for new graduate nurses while guiding progress of preceptor/orientee pair. Must demonstrate an exceptional ability to coach, problem solve, actively listen, and communicate both verbally and in writing.This individual will also assist the development of the new grad and the new to specialty nurse from the novice nurse to a fully competent nurse in area of specialty. Must demonstrate an exceptional ability to coach, problem solve, actively listen, and communicate both verbally and in writing. This position supports the Intermediate Care Unit. This is a M-F day shift position and requires flexible shift times and requires a few occasional weekend hours.
The Intermediate Care Unit is a 36 bed step-down unit which takes care of patients needing closer and in-depth telemetry monitoring. Each room is equipped with hemodynamic monitors and is capable of cardiac telemetry and continuous pulse oximetry for stable and unstable patients. We take care of a wide variety of adult patients with neurologic, respiratory, cardiac, renal, gastrointestinal, genitourinary as well as endocrine and gynecologic conditions. We also provide care for trauma, post-surgical and behavioral patients. Our nurses will be trained in a fast paced environment and will be ACLS, Trauma and Stroke certified to be able to provide care for the patient population. Our staff is very supportive and helps in nurturing new RN graduates and new to specialty nurses. We also practice shared governance where RN's involvement is paramount. We also strive to uphold Magnet principles in order to provide the best care for our patients. This is a great learning environment that could prepare nurses for advancement of their nursing career.
Requirements: Basic professional knowledge equivalent to a Bachelor's degree, BSN required, MSN preferred, working knowledge of theory and practice within a specialized field, Maryland RN license, at least 5 years of criitcal care RN experience in the IMC, ICU, ICU Step-Down, etc, American Heart Association CPR Card, ACLS required, Microsoft Office Suite, basic computer skills, Cerner, Synquest, IDX, standard office equipment, medical terminology, Nursing Process skills based on MD Nurse Practice Act, critical thinking skills, medical equipment, demonstration and validation of skills, presentation skills using a variety of methods. This position requires extensive history of precepting, coaching, and mentoring RNs.
