An essential part of The Joint Commission and Maryland Institute for Emergency Medical Services-certified Primary Stroke Center at Sinai Hospital, 3 South Neuroscience provides care for stroke patients and patients who require pre- or post-operative care for neurosurgery, and monitoring for epilepsy or normal pressure hydrocephalus. The unit has 36 telemetry-capable beds. 3 South Neuroscience staff members are outgoing and positive, and must utilize strong organizational and leadership skills to assess patient status, implement clinical nursing interventions to modify symptoms, and develop and implement patient care plans to enhance and improve outcomes. Staff members on this unit receive special training on how to conduct the National Institute of Health Stroke Scale and routine neuro checks. Nurses on this unit must also be certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support within six months of their hire date.
Provides safe, age-appropriate patient care, assisting with activities of daily living while maintaining a safe and clean environment.
Requirements: Entry level knowledge; basic employment skills; High School diploma or GED equivalent. One to three (1-3) years of experience. GNA / CNA Licensure; American Heart Association CPR Card. Automatic B/P cuff; Basic computer skills; Synquest; Communication devices; Hoyer lift; Specialty beds.
